Pattaya is located only two hours from Bangkok on the Eastern Seaboard and is Thailand's and South East Asia's largest resort town. Its location makes it a popular holiday destination for both foreign and Thai visitors.

The streets and walks in the vicinity of Tara Court provide the opportunity to avail of shops, restaurants and bars that cater for every taste and budget.

Pattaya offers many different kinds of shopping. Bustling open air markets and western style shopping malls all offer quality goods at a fraction of the cost in the west.

Pattaya City offers a wide range of activities, sports and pastimes to please all tastes and pockets, ranging from diving and golf to swimming and shopping. Other activities include relaxing on the beach, bungee jumping, motor sports and Thai traditional massage and luxury spas. The nightlife is legendary, with several thousand bars, restaurants and clubs to choose from,… All conveniently located within a walk or short taxi trip from Tara Court.

Thai Boxing

Muay Thai Boxing action at the Fairtex Tepprasit Stadium. Including the very best Thai fighters and many of the top international fighters, Pattaya’s Fairtex Tepprasit Boxing Stadium is almost always packed with spectators, Thai and foreigners alike. If you would like to experience a night of Muay Thai boxing action, there are bouts every Monday and Thursday starting at 8 .pm.

Horse Riding

Pattaya Horse Riding Resort. The Horseshoe Point resort, the only one of its kind in Asia, is especially built for true horse-lovers. You will encounter the most beautiful spots on the rolling hillsides of Pattaya. Crossing lakes, pineapple fields, the Mabprachan reservoir, rubber plantations and picturesque villages will make these trails rides an experience hard to forget.

Diving

The first dive shop opened in Pattaya during the Vietnam era and diving and snorkeling has grown up in the area to become the extraordinary diverse package of sporting activities nowadays that offers something for everyone. In fact Pattaya has an abundance of dive centers which offer introductory courses in scuba diving and open water certification courses to all new divers.

For a gentle coral dive specially suited to beginners many operators run a one day excursion to the nearby island of Koh Krok. Further out the island of Koh Rin probably offers Pattaya’s best diving. Water clarity will usually exceed 15 metres which is as good as you will get anywhere in the world and the underwater terrain is dramatic with rocky canyons providing exciting swim-throughs and wonderful environmental conditions for a vast array of marine life. Ship wreck dives and pristine coral reef dives will guarantee the sub-aqua experience of a lifetime. There are also several submarines diving under the sea in Pattaya Bay which allow you to experience the undersea world in comfort.

Golf

Within a half hour’s drive from Tara Court there are no fewer than 20 championship standard golf courses. These include courses designed by Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Pete Dye and Nick Faldo. It is no exaggeration to claim that no other resort in the world can offer so many courses of such high standard at such reasonable prices. Car Racing

Bira International Car Racing Circuit. For racing enthusiasts who love speed and would like to experience the real thing, the Bira International Circuit is a real race track for cars and motorcycles, covering some 65 acres. Bira has full facilities including race meetings, racing schools, test runs, and practice laps. The Bira International Circuit track opens every day.

There are many things to do and places to go around Pattaya, both near to and away from the sea. The city is a shopper's treasure trove, with bargains galore if you look for them and negotiate down the prices.

Because Pattaya is a holiday resort, special tourist attractions such as Mini Siam, Ripley's Believe it or Not, Sri Racha Tiger Zoo, and other unusual venues abound in the area to ensure that there is something interesting to see and do for all tastes. Many of these are in Pattaya itself, while the others outside the city are easy to visit, very often with their own transport to take you there.

Fishing

It is not a well known fact that Pattaya Bay has some of the best game and reef fishing in South East Asia and also that Thailand has the best freshwater fishing in the world. Pattaya Bay is The Gulf of Thailand’s largest breeding ground for squid and in fact supplies a large percentage of Thailand’s hungry appetite for both squid and the large gamefish which prey upon the squid. You are what you eat and the Pattaya Bay gamefish are a good example of this cliché. They have the whitest and most delicious meat which this writer has ever tasted. This is because they continuously feed on the young squid of Pattaya Bay. Game fish which feed on the squid include Black Kingfish (Cobia), Barracuda, Stingray, Sailfish, Grouper, Flathead, Mackerel and the tastiest of all, Pink Snapper . The sailfish season is November to February and a 55 kilo specimen was caught in the bay on the first week in November last year. Because of this abundance of large game fishing, an industry has established itself in Pattaya Bay attracting fishermen from all over the world for a 12 month fishing season.

A 35 foot boat (will which cater for up to 8 guests) with inboard engine, sundeck and shaded area is a typical Pattaya Bay game fishing boat. The package comes with captain included who provides all the bait and rods for a total of Baht 6,000 for a full days fishing!!! ( about 130 euro). Each fishing person can bring a partner for free. For a serious fishing experience the charter boat will leave at 6.00am and return at 5.00pm. During a typical day the boat will go reef fishing off the island of Koh Larn, then maybe visit some of the other island reefs and then head into Pattaya Bay to look for the squid feeding gamefish. Sophisticated balloon attached-live bait tackle can be set up by the captain depending on which fish are abundant on the day and the type of fish you are looking for. It is all up to you.

There are a multitude of restaurants and bars all over Pattaya catering for the visitor at night, with food from not only Thailand but all over the world.
